Metro Police procure 146 new vehicles to ght crime
The Metro Police have bolstered their crime fighting efforts with the addition of 146 vehicles to their fleet.
TO BOLSTER their ongoing e orts to curb crime and ensure increased police visibility, the Metro Police has procured an additional 146 vehicles to add to their eet. e procurement comes after the City announced plans to roll out the Smart Policing System which seeks to fast track crime reports.
THE FLEET CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES: - 50 x Golf GTI’s - 29 x Ford Rangers - 30 x Isuzu bakkies - 37 x VW Polos
Metro Police Spokesperson Colonel Boysie Zungu applauded Council for approving the procurement and for sharing the Metro Police’s vision of ensuring a safe City for residents, businesses, and visitors. He said further crime prevention initiatives will be implemented and will be announced in due course as the City prepares to welcome thousands of holidaymakers during the festive season.
