Motorists warned about roadside syndicate
A motorist escaped unharmed after a rock was used
to smash into his vehicle on the N2 south bound on
8 October.

POLICE have issued a warning to motorists to be aware of their surroundings and to immediately call for roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown or when stranded on the roadside. This comes after a motorist was attacked and robbed when his vehicle broke down on the N2 south bound on 8 October.

Police confirmed that the man was stabbed while trying to repair his vehicle on the roadside. When
the motorist noticed two suspects approaching, he got into his bakkie. The suspects approached the victim and smashed a rock into his passenger window, making off with the motorist’s belongings.

Metro Police Media Liaison Officer Superintendent Boysie Zungu advised motorist to be vigilant
when approaching bridges and report any suspicious persons. Zungu said following a spate of rockthrowing incidents in various parts of the City, the Municipality launched a patrol project, which
saw security deployed on bridges over highways and hotspot areas.
